With this 'iffy' sailing weather, I decided to tackle some maintenance issues. Now, I need some advice on removing the impeller on the raw water pump. The pump sits below the alternator, near the rear of the engine. I have removed the cover and see that the impeller is retained by a 'C' clip. So far, I haven't been able to get my C-clip pliers seated on the clip to remove it (working by 'feel' from the quarter berth on the starboard side of the engine.) Has anyone been able to do this without taking the pump completely off the engine? If so, there must be a trick to doing it. I would appreciate any tips and advice, cause right now, I'm stuck. Thanks . . . Doug Parlay III, CS36T

Doug,
I have an 1983 36T with the w-33 and must have a different pump, mine you can just remove the cover and pull the impeller out. Nothing holding it in. I have speed seal cover but believe the pump is the same. ( Love the speed seal). Tim
