Has anyone used this to clean the raw water side? If you did, what product, what dilution, how did you reverse flush...in other words how did you do it. My temp guage is starting to creep up again with rpms over 2000. Oh yeah, I have the Westerbeke W-30. I have used muriatic acid previously, but reading other blogs, it seems that Ph. acid is much safer for me and the engine.
I don't know if the PO ever took the HE off, but I'd rather not bust a bolt off in a 25 year old engine taking it off.

Why don't you check if there is missing impeller rubber in the HE first. They are much worst than calcium.

Use Rydyme. It is kinder, gentler and specifically designed for this application and works very, very well. I just did my engine this spring thanks to Dex-Cool AKA Death-Cool.. Use the right stuff engines are PRICEY.. Rydlyme Link: www.rydlymemarine.com/Before doing any of this I would remove the HX and clean it!! If that does not work then address the antifreeze side of the system. It could be many things so don't just jump into an acid clean. One of the biggest culprits of HX clogging is zincs not change frequently enough.
