Attaching and adjusting the backstay tension on a CS30 is a pain as the bottom attachment point is inches from the water. I have cut the backstay about 6 feet from the bottom and installed a turnbuckle. But the connection is still a pain as the whole thing is tensioned. Unless I reduce the forestay the backstay cannot be reconnected easily.
I am changing the lower part of the backstay to a 6:1 garhaurer blocks with 1/4 inches lines. At 1150lb working load, would that be sufficent. I don't want to spend the $$$ to go to hydralic backstay adjuster as I don't race that much.
Any insight would be much appreciated.
