Does anyone know the shroud tensions for a CS27? Or is there a good way to adjust them after the mast is stepped to achieve maximum performance without buying a tension gauge? Thanks for any advice

Here's one way:
Nigel Calder describes a method which exploits the behavior of 1x19 wire to to stretch uniformly as tension is applied. I have also read this from other sources.
A 2 metre length of SS wire will stretch about 1 mm for every 5% of the wire's breaking strength.
Tighten the shrouds to 15 to 25% of breaking strength (3 to 5 mm) - split it between the two sides so that you do 1.5 to 2.5 mm on each side.
Tighten the backstay and forestay to between 25 to 35%. Calder suggests that you tighten the backstay to 20% and due to the geometric effect, the forestay will then be tightened to 25 to 30%.
Do this by taping an exact 2 metre length of something to the wire and establish a reference point (could be a piece of tape, or top of turnbuckle), then measure the gap as you tighten the turnbuckle.
Note on the CS27 that the baby stay is not designed to force a bend in the mast, it is intended only to stabilize the mast, just tighten it snugly.
I have also read from other sources that it is very hard to overtighten the rigging when using ordinary hand tools.
Cheers, Graham

Wow. That sounds like an easy straight forward method. I cant wait to try it.
