Hello everyone. I'm buying my first sailboat and I've just had a pre-purchase survey done on a 1977 CS27 and a few of the concerns revolve around the wiring. Did these boat originally come from the manufacturer with non-marine grade wiring? Also, did the shore power system not come with circuit breakers installed?
Has anyone replaced/upgraded these items and how do marine insurance companies deal with these issues. The boat is otherwise in pretty good shape and seems well cared for.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Full.. or is it keel? The CS27 came with little or no 120v wiring. Mine has a shore power cord connection, with 4 duplex 120v outlets on the inside and one master switch. I dont think its a breaker. My insurance company had no problem based on my survey. We deal with Roberston and Roberston here in the Toronto area. Don't know where you are. Hope this helps.

Thanks Dan. A friend and co-worker was electrocuted on a job site(many 1000's of volts) a few years go so I'm very fearful of improper electrical installations.
We're also in the Toronto area. If all goes well we'll probably keep her at the Toronto Outer Harbour Marina.
Full or keel is fine just not FK. LOL. Actually, rightly or wrongly, I'm a big fan of Island Packet yachts and their nice stable shoal draft keels. The draft is the only negative I have with the CS27. 5'6" just seems like a lot for a 27 footer but then the only place that matters would be the ICW.
Cheers,
Darcy

Darcy,
I see your point about the keel. Believe me though, it points a lot better than the shoal draft like mine, although with 4'6" C&C 27's dragging the bottom in September at our marina, I had no choice but to go with the shoal keel.
